The first shop was opened by Ian Fisk, John Paul (and joined later by Robert Orbach) in 1965 at 293 at the top of the Portobello Road market. More outlets followed on Wardour street, then off Carnaby St on Foubert’s Place with two more actually on Carnaby Street itself and later Piccadilly Circus and The King’s Road. Moving away from it’s original ex-military stock , the chain churned out Swinging London merchandise, ashtrays, aprons, poster, tea tins etc….and where Hendrix bought his famous Hussar’s jacket
This acetate Union Jack scarf measures 66 x66 cm (26″ x26″).
Condition : VG++ Colours are still bright, and would display well framed. The product photo is hung and the other laid flat on the floor. There are two very minor snags -see detail photo- and while it has been washed and cleaned, there’s a faint residual whiff of vintage perfume:) Scare item !
